The silver section of our Fine Art and Antiques sales are particularly strong, and are always very well attended.
Over the years we have been privileged to sell some superb private collections of silver, as well as some monumental pieces – achieving some incredible results. Many of the collections we have sold have been in private hands through several generations all untouched and fresh to the market. We have a strong following from worldwide collectors as well as the silver trade. One of our most exciting finds to date came in on a weekly valuation day – a pair of Victorian salts in the form of Kangaroos which sold for a staggering £18,000 (plus premium).
Our sales of silver range from Elizabethan to Modern, and from flatwear to centrepieces. Notable British silversmiths have included Omar Ramsden, Nathaniel Mills, Hunt and Rothskell and Christopher Dresser. As well as European silver, we have recently achieved some notable prices for Chinese and Indian Colonial silver. In September 2017 we sold a collection of Chinese export silver which was originally bought by a British engineer in China in the 1930s. The collection sold for over £10,000 (plus premium).
