Overview

Coins from a range of currencies and periods have been successfully sold here at Catherine Southon Auctioneers & Valuers, from Roman Imperial Antoniniani & Denarii to commemorative Royal Mints.

We are privileged to have auctioned many important coins, particularly in our October 2024 Single Owner Coin Collection sale that realised over £350,000 (plus buyers premium) across 192 lots with a 100% sold rate. One of the most magnificent highlights being A 2019 ‘Una and the Lion’ gold proof that sold for £26,000 (plus buyers premium). 

Therefore, the physical coin market has performed very well in recent years, driven by both investment demand in bullion coins and interest in collectible, numismatic coins. Thus, they appeal to a diverse audience of buyers, making them a popular feature in our regular auctions.
