ATG Feature | Bright and Beautiful Jewels Shine at Auction

10th February 2026
We were delighted to see the Part I of a remarkable private collection of 19th- and early 20th-century jewellery achieve such strong results at our Chislehurst sale on November 19th 2025, which has now been featured in Antiques Trade Gazette!
The collection, built over the past 20 years through major UK auctions, was offered at sensible estimates to encourage market confidence. This approach resulted in a near-complete sell-out, with many pieces exceeding their top estimates by 50% or more.
Demand was particularly strong for insect brooches and works by named makers, like Child & Child. A Victorian diamond and ruby-set en tremblant butterfly brooch led the auction, selling for £11,000, followed by a Carlo Giuliano Renaissance Revival enamel, diamond and pearl bracelet, which achieved £8,500.
Our sale also featured exceptional mid-Victorian Holbeinesque pendants, including an important royal presentation piece gifted by Queen Victoria in 1858 to Lady Victoria Hare on the occasion of her marriage—an item that perfectly reflected the historical depth and quality of the collection.
As we commented after the sale, “We were thrilled by the response to this collection. The strong prices and competitive bidding confirmed the continuing appetite for rare, characterful jewellery with both craftsmanship and provenance.”
Part II of this exceptional collection will be auctioned on Wednesday 11th February, as part of our Silver, Watches & Jewellery sale.
