Covent Garden: French bistro Mon Plaisir décor up for auction

7th January 2026
We are delighted that the Mon Plaisir contents auction has received widespread interest!
The historic French bistro in Covent Garden, founded in 1943 and often called London’s oldest family-run French restaurant, is auctioning off parts of its French interior décor through Catherine Southon Auctioneers & Valuers ahead of a refurbishment. Items such as vintage signage, art posters, clocks and a cockerel will go under the hammer in a timed auction running until 11 January.
While new family owners plan to refresh the interior, they will preserve the original 1943 dining room and the copper-topped bar. The sale is a rare chance to own a piece of London’s gastronomic history, noting the restaurant’s long-standing cultural and emotional significance to patrons.
